The petitioners are aggrieved by the fact that in spite of informing the police authorities that the private respondents are trying to forcefully evict the petitioners and oust them from the village, no steps have been taken by the Officer-in-Charge, Jangipara Police Station and information to the Superintendent of Police also did not yield any result. Learned advocate for the petitioners has also handed over a memorandum issued by the District Magistrate wherein communication was made to the Superintendent of Police, Hooghly Rural for taking appropriate action.

As none appears on behalf of the State, Mr.

Akash Dutta, learned advocate, who ordinarily appears for the State, is directed to represent the State. His appointment may be regularised by the concerned authorities.

Learned advocate for the petitioners is directed to hand over a copy of the writ petition to learned advocate for the State.

Learned advocate appearing for the respondent no.6 submits that there is no factual foundation in the accusations made by the petitioners and as such, the police authorities had no provision to act.

I have considered the contents which are of the month of April, 2023. Having regard to the fact that more than two years have passed since information was furnished to the police authorities, if the petitioners still face any inconvenience, they would file a fresh representation to the police authorities. The police authorities will take steps in accordance with law.

With the aforesaid observations, the writ petition being WPA 12632 of 2023 is disposed of. There will be no order as to costs.

All concerned parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
