In the matter of : Ravi Das @ Rabi Das & Anr. ..... petitioners Mr. Debarshi Brahma ....For the petitioners Ms. Sukanya Bhattacharyya Mr. Mirza Firoz Ahmed Begg ....For the State This is an application for an expeditious hearing of the NDPS Special Case No. 105 of 2019 under Sections 21(c)/23 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 pending before the learned Judge, Special Court, Krishnagar, Nadia. It has been submitted by the learned advocate for the petitioners that out of nine witnesses, only two have been examined so far.

In this pandemic situation, the delay in conducting the trial cannot be attributed to the learned Judge in the Court below. However, keeping in mind the innocuous nature of the prayer made in the petition and the fact that the petitioners are in custody for about 640 days, this application is disposed of with a direction upon the learned Judge in the Court below to make an endeavour to expedite and conclude the trial as early as possible, preferably within a year from the resumption of the normal functioning of the Court.

The revisional application being CRR 1696 of 2021 is disposed of.
