The learned advocate appearing on behalf of the Calcutta Electricity Supply Corporation Limited (CESC) submits that the petitioner's application for a new service connection is currently pending before CESC. It is further submitted that a letter was issued to the petitioner on July 19, 2024, requesting the submission of documents establishing his ownership or occupancy of the premises. The petitioner does not assert ownership of the said premises but seeks the electricity connection based on his occupancy.

Upon consideration of the materials placed and the submissions made, this Court is of the view that the petitioner is in settled possession of the premises. Accordingly, CESC is directed to effect a new service connection in favour of the petitioner, subject to compliance with all requisite formalities, within four weeks

from the date of this order.

Accordingly, WPA 12509 of 2025 is disposed of. Urgent certified website copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
