29.06.2022 sdas rejected C.R.M. (DB) 2048 of 2022 In Re:- An application for bail under Section 439 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in connection with Chakdha Police Station Case No. 227 of 2018 dated 12.07.2018 under Sections 302/120B/34 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 25/27 of the Arms Act.

And In Re : Raju Majumder ..... petitioner Mr. Sumanta Das ... for the petitioner Mr. Neguive Ahmed, learned APP Ms. Z. N. Khan Ms. Trina Mitra ... for the State Petitioner renews his prayer for bail. He is in custody for over four years.

Learned Counsel appearing for the State opposes the prayer for bail.

We have considered the materials on record including the statements of the witnesses and other incriminating materials implicating the petitioner in the alleged offence. Prayer for bail was rejected earlier.

In view of gravity of the offence, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.

The application for bail is, thus, rejected. We direct the trial court to expedite the trial and conclude the same as expeditiously as possible preferably within

one year from the next date fixed for recording evidence without granting any unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties. (Ananya Bandyopadhyay, J.) (Joymalya Bagchi, J.)
