The petitioners seek demarcation of a private plot of land with the help of Government Amin.

Learned advocate for the petitioners has not been able to show any provision of law which permits Government Amin to measure private plots of land to resolve the private disputes.

Learned counsel for the State has relied upon a judgment delivered by this Court on August 3, 2010 in WP No.9049(W) of 2010 (Shamsher Alam Laskar & Anr. v. State of West Bengal & Ors.) wherein the Court held that the Government Amin cannot be engaged for demarcation of private plots of land.

In view thereof, no relief can be granted to the writ petitioners in the instant case.

A civil suit between the parties is pending consideration. It will be open for the petitioners to approach the competent forum for remedy, if so advised.

The writ petition stands disposed of.

Report of the Officer-in-Charge of Ghatal police station dated August 13, 2025 be retained with
the records.
