Mr. Ranabir Raychoudhury, Mr. Sandip Chakraborty, Mr. Mainak Gupta .....for the State Mr. Mukherjee, learned advocate appearing for the appellant submits that the appellant was convicted for offences under Sections 392/397/411 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 25(IB) of the Arms Act.
Report was earlier called for which reflected that the appellant served out the sentence and did not pay the fine. He is serving the default sentence in respect of the fine and the final date of his release is fixed on June 27, 2022. Today, when the appeal has been taken up, the appellant has been released (as is reflected from the report submitted by the Superintendent of Midnapore Central Correctional Home dated May 17, 2022).
In view of the appellant having served out the sentence, Mr. Mukherjee, learned advocate for the appellant is not interested to pursue the appeal on merits.
Mr. Roychoudhury, learned advocate appears on behalf of the State.
Accordingly, CRA 371 of 2016 is disposed of.
All pending connected applications, if any, are consequently disposed of.
