1. Affidavit of service filed on behalf of petitioner is taken on record.

2. Learned advocate representing petitioner submits that petitioner apprehends harassment and threat at the instance of complainant and his associates since based on the complaint lodged by said complainant Sk.

Amir a criminal prosecution being Burdwan P.S. Case No. 576/2026 dated 19th May, 2026 was initiated. However, it is also submitted that petitioner has obtained pre-arrest bail on 15th June, 2026 and same is corroborated by the communication dated 24th June, 2026 of Inspector-in-Charge, Burdwan Police Station, Purba Bardhaman. Prayer is made in this writ petition for providing police protection to the

petitioner and his family members during pendency of criminal prosecution initiated against him.

3. Learned advocate representing State respondents has filed communication dated 24th June, 2026 as alluded above wherein it is disclosed that in connection with an incident dated 23rd May, 2018 a complaint was lodged precisely eight years thereafter on 19th May, 2026 alleging vandalism at the instance of petitioner and his associates.

However, criminal prosecution being Burdwan P.S. Case No. 576/2026 dated 19th May, 2026 is initiated against petitioner.

4. Concerned police authority is directed to take the prosecution to its logical conclusion in accordance with law. At this stage this Court is not making any observation with regard to criminal prosecution initiated against petitioner. However, taking note of the case made out in this writ petition Inspector-inCharge, Burdwan Sadar Police Station being respondent no. 5 is directed to provide protection to the petitioner and his family members, if occasion so arises and to see that no untoward incident takes place in an around the residence of petitioner.

5. Writ petition stands disposed of.

6. Urgent photostat certified copy of the order, if applied for, be given to the parties, upon usual undertakings.
