The Panchayat Samity and the private respondents are not represented.

The petitioners who are members of Ratua-I Panchayat Samity floated a no confidence motion against the Sabhapati of the Samity being the 12th respondent herein on May 25, 2026 before the Sub-Divisional Officer and Prescribed Authority being the 5th respondent herein which was received by the latter on the same date. A meeting was convened by the 5th respondent on June 11, 2026 by a notice issued on June 01, 2026. On June 09, 2026, the said authority issued a notice informing that the meeting could not be convened until further order due to lack of adequate police personnel. The petitioner seeks a direction upon the 5th respondent to convene the meeting

and conclude the proceedings in terms of Section 101 of the West Bengal Panchyat Act, 1973.

In view of the fact that no further date of meeting has been announced by the 5th respondent, the said respondent is directed to convene to meeting within 10 days from the date of communication of this order upon service of notice to the parties and take the proceeding to its logical conclusion in terms of Section 101 of the Act of 1973.

The Inspector-in-Charge, Ratua Police Station, being the 9th respondent herein, is directed to render necessary assistance to the 5th respondent in order to enable him to conduct the meeting peacefully and without any hindrance from any corner whatsoever.

The writ petition is disposed of.

There shall, however, be no order as to costs. Since no affidavit is invited, the allegations contained in the writ petition are deemed not to have been admitted.
