Having heard the learned advocate for the petitioner and on perusal of the materials on record this Court is of the view that the instant criminal revision can be disposed of with the assistance of the learned P.P.-in-charge here and now.

Mr. Avishek Sinha, learned P.P.-in-charge is requested to assist this Court on behalf of the State. His appointment be regularized by the learned Legal Remembrancer, Government of West Bengal.

The petitioner is directed to serve a copy of the application upon Mr. Sinha.

It is submitted by the learned advocate for the petitioner that in Case No.N. 206/2020 pending before the learned 6th Additional Sessions Judge-cum -Special Judge under NDPS Act, Barasat under Section 21(c)/29 of the NDPS Act. The accused was arrested on 28th September, 2020. Since then they are in custody. In the meantime, the trial Court framed charge against the accused persons and next date for recording evidence of the witnesses is fixed on 25th July, 2022. It is submitted by the learned advocate for the petitioner that all the witnesses are police personnel and if the trial Court takes some proactive role, evidence can be recorded expeditiously.

In view of such submission, the instant criminal revision is disposed of directing the learned Special Judge, North 24 Parganas at Barasat -cum- 6th Additional Sessions Judge to take all steps for expeditious disposal of Case No.N. 206/2020. He is

further advised to follow the provision of Section 309 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and prepare a schedule for examination of the witnesses in future without keeping a single day for their examination.

With the above direction, the instant criminal revision is disposed of.
