Affidavit-of-service filed on behalf of the petitioner in Court today is taken on record. Despite service of notice, the respondents are not represented. 2.

The instant writ petition has been filed by the petitioner seeking direction upon the respondent no.2 to forthwith disburse the maturity sum of Rs. 1,00,000/- under Kisan Vikas Patra (in short 'KVP') along with additional interest as applicable till the date of actual payment.

It is the specific case of the petitioner that she had deposited Rs.10,000/- each in five KVP before the respondent no.2 on 23rd September, 2009 and all the KVPs got matured on 23rd April, 2018.

It is the further case of the petitioner that despite maturity, the Authorities are not disbursing the same, though she possessed the original KVP certificates.

Learned Counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner also referred to a letter dated 2nd May, 2022 written by the Superintendent of Post Offices, Baruipur Division, Baruipur, Kolkata - 700 144, to the

Inspector of Posts, Bishnupur Sub-Division, Bishnupur, asking to enquire into the matter of alleged non-payment of KVPs maturity value and submit a conclusive report on the said allegations within fifteen days of the receipt of the letter positively but in vain. 6.

The petitioner has filed an application under Section 6 of the Right to Information Act, 2005, where it was replied given simply the information as sought for by the petitioner cannot be provided as it is the third-party information.

The petitioner, even though she did not file appeals against the said reply, chose to file a writ petition seeking the aforesaid directions.

In the above backdrop, this Court finds that there are five KVPs in the name of the petitioner, which were already matured on 23rd April, 2018, and the said KVPs are in the name of the petitioner herself, and that the matured amount should have been disbursed in favour of the petitioner upon maturity, as she is entitled to such matured amount.

Accordingly, the respondent no.2 is directed to immediately disburse the matured amount upon receipt of the original KVCs certificate from the petitioner within four weeks from date. In default of payment, the interest will be charged at the rate of 7 % per annum on such maturity amount till final payment.

Let a copy of this order, along with the original certificates, be submitted before the concerned authority i.e.

the respondent no.2.

In turn, Respondent No.2 shall disburse the matured amount to the Petitioner as aforesaid, immediately.

With the aforesaid directions, the instant writ petition is, thus, disposed of.

There will be no order as to costs.
