Report submitted by the State is taken on record. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is in custody for more than 6 years and 12 out of 24 witnesses have been examined so far.
Learned counsel for the State submits that the State proposes to examine 7 more witnesses and shall conclude trial within six months from the next date of evidence fixed before the learned trial Court.
In view of the gravity of the offence and prima facie involvement of the petitioner therein, the prayer for bail is rejected at this stage.
However, considering the period of incarceration the learned trial Court is directed to expedite the trial without granting any unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties, in accordance with law in the light of the submission made on behalf of the State.
The application for bail is thus disposed of.
