It is not in dispute that the petitioner was successful in the selection process and he was placed at no.1 position in the panel.

It further appears that by a letter dated February 12, 2021, the Chairperson, Baidyabati Municipality forwarded the panel to the Director, Directorate of Local Bodies for his approval. The petitioner alleges that till date no decision has been taken by the Director, Directorate of Local Bodies with regard to the approval of the panel. In the above facts, I dispose of this writ petition with a direction upon the Director, Directorate of Local Bodies to take a decision regarding approval of

the panel within a period of 15 days from the date of communication of this order.

If the panel is approved by the Director, Directorate of Local Bodies, the Municipality shall issue an appointment letter to the petitioner without any further delay.

In the event, the Director, Directorate of Local Bodies decides not to approve the panel, the reason for the same should be communicated to the petitioner.

Accordingly, WPA 13078 of 2023 is disposed of.
