Biswaroop Bhattacharyya, learned Advocate representing the petitioners submits that petitioner no. 1 is Pradhan of Panchpara Gram Panchayat, Sankrail, Howrah and petitioner no. 2 is husband of petitioner no. 1. It is alleged that repeatedly petitioners are intimidated at the instance of the concerned police authority and there were threats prompting the petitioners to approach this court with the present writ petition seeking direction upon the concerned police authorities to divulge criminal prosecutions, if pending against the petitioners. Prayer is also made for directing the concerned police authorities to provide protection to the petitioners since petitioners are apprehending that at any point of time they would be victims of post poll violence.

Mr. Suryaneel Das, learned Additional Government Pleader representing the State-respondents has filed a communication of Inspector-in-charge, Sankrail Police

Station, Howrah Police Commissionerate today and same is taken on record. Copy of the said communication is made over to the learned Advocate representing the petitioners. 4.

It is disclosed in the communication that one noncognizable report No. 190/2026 dated 12.04.2026 under Sections 126/135(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 was submitted against petitioner no. 2. Though there was a complaint by one Shubham Tiwari but said complaint as it appears till date is not transformed into an FIR.

However, it is also disclosed in the communication filed today that as Confidence Building Measures (CBM), police personnel visited residence of the petitioners on 07.06.2026 and 12.06.2026 and both these visits were diarised. 6.

Therefore, it appears from the communication of Inspector-in-charge, Sankrail Police Station, Howrah Police Commissionerate which is filed today that as on date no FIR is registered against the petitioners.

However, concerned police authorities are directed to maintain peace and tranquility in and around the residence of the petitioners and to see that no untoward incident takes place.

The writ petition stands disposed of.

There shall be no order as to costs.

Let urgent Photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the learned Advocates for the parties on usual undertaking.
