....For the Petitioner Mr. Hare Krishna Halder ....For the State Affidavit-in-opposition, filed by the respondents and the affidavit-in-reply, filed by the petitioner in Court today are taken on record.

The petitioner, by a letter dated November 11, 2016 applied under the provisions of the Right to Information Act, 2005 seeking certain information. The said application which was addressed to the District Magistrate, Burdwan was transferred to the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, Burdwan. By his letter dated December 16, 2016, the Additional Public Prosecutor replied to the queries made under the said application. The petitioner was not satisfied with the answers given in reply to the application under the provisions of the Right to Information Act, 2005 and approached this Court by filing the instant writ petition. If the petitioner was not satisfied with the information supplied, it was open to him to avail of the statutory

remedies under the provision of the Right to Information Act, 2005.

This writ petition is not entertained in view of the existence of alternative and efficacious remedies under the said Act.

The writ petition accordingly stands dismissed. There shall be however no order as to costs.
