The election of the Dooma Union Large Sized Primary Cooperative Agriculture Credit Society Limited is pending for quite some time. Though date of election was declared in April, 2023 but the election could not be conducted as the Officer-in-Charge of the Gaighata Police Station was unable to provide adequate police assistance. The date of the election was again fixed on 2nd July, 2023 but it appears that the election could not be held on the re-scheduled date.

Learned advocate for the petitioners submits that the election has not been held till date.

The Co-operative Election Commission being the respondent no. 2 herein is directed to take immediate steps for conducting the election in accordance with law and conclude the same positively within a period of six months from the date of communication of this order.

The Officer-in-Charge, Gaighata Police Station is directed to render all necessary help and assistance to the Commission at the time of conducting the election. The writ petition stands disposed of.

Urgent certified photocopy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties expeditiously on compliance of usual legal formalities.
