An application dated January 24, 2024 is submitted by the petitioner before the Secretary, State Transport Authority, West Bengal for renewal of his permit, which was scheduled to expire on February 25, 2024.

The same is yet to be considered by the concerned respondent authority whereas after expiry of the permit on February 25, 2024, the petitioner has not been able to ply the vehicle.

The State is represented.

The application of the petitioner for renewal of permit appears to have been made duly in terms of the statutory provision.

Let this writ petition be disposed of by directing the respondent no. 4/The Secretary, State Transport Authority, West Bengal to consider and dispose of the petitioner's application dated January 24, 2024, at the earliest but not later than a period of four weeks from the date of communication of this order. The decision thereof would be informed to the writ petitioner, within one week thereafter.

Since no affidavits are called for, allegations made in the writ petition, are deemed to have been denied by the respondents.

This writ petition being WPA No. 14668 of 2024 is disposed of, along with the pending applications, if any.
