Affidavit-of-service filed on behalf of the petitioner is taken on record.

The petitioner being the son of deceased Group-D staff of a Government aided High School has come up with the present writ petition, inter alia, praying for appointment of compassionate ground due to untimely death of his father inharness. The father of the petitioner died on 8th August, 2019 and the petitioner made an application seeking appointment on compassionate ground on 25th February, 2020 which is at page 19 of the writ petition.

The grievance of the petitioner is in spite of making application within the prescribed time limit till date of such application has not been considered by the concerned respondent authorities.

It is also submitted by the learned advocate for the petitioner that the application dated 25th

February, 2020 seeking appointment on compassionate ground was made to the school authority where petitioner's father was working and the said school authority has forwarded the said application to the District Inspector of Schools (S.E.), South 24 Parganas vide letter dated 29th September, 2020.

Petitioner has also made an application dated 18th January, 2022 directly to the concerned District Inspector of Schools for taking necessary steps relating to his appointment on compassionate ground.

Today in spite of service of notice no one is representing the State respondents.

The present writ petition stands disposed of directing the District Inspector of Schools (S.E.), South 24 Parganas being respondent no.3 to take decision on the application of the petitioner seeking appointment on compassionate ground within a period of ten weeks from the date of communication of this order after granting opportunity of hearing to the petitioner or his representative.

The respondent no.3 is required to pass a reasoned order and the same to be communicated to the petitioner within one week thereafter.

However, there shall be no order as to costs.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the learned Advocates for the parties on the usual undertakings.
