Petitioner complains that there were accusations 20.03.2025 Court No. 35 Item No.10 Rakib of torture being inflicted at the behest of the private respondent no.7, to that effect informations were furnished with the Officer-in-Charge/Inspector-inCharge, Barasat Police Station. Records reflect that such information was furnished between September, 2022 to 13th of June, 2024.

Mr.

Mondal, learned Additional Government Pleader appears on behalf of the State and submits that police authorities have taken appropriate steps and warrant of arrest has been issued against the private respondent no.7 in connection with case registered against him.

Since a criminal case is pending, petitioner would be at liberty to approach the Jurisdictional Magistrate praying for protection under the Witness Protection Scheme, 2018. If such an application is filed, the

concerned Magistrate would call for a Threat Perception Report and pass necessary order under the Scheme. In the meantime if further inconveniences are faced by the petitioner, they would inform the police authorities who would take appropriate steps. It has been submitted that as warrant of arrest is pending against the respondent no.7, police authorities would put in efforts to trace out the respondent no.7 by exhausting the process of law.

With the aforesaid observations WPA 13399 of 2023 is disposed of.

Report so submitted by the State be kept with the record.
