Affidavit-of-service filed by the petitioner today in court is taken on record.

The wife of the petitioner died on 22.05.2021 due to COVID-19 pandemic. The petitioner has made a representation to the authority for grant of ex-gratia payment (compensation) on account of the death of his wife during COVID-19 pandemic. As the representation submitted by the petitioner was not considered, accordingly, the petitioner has filed a writ petition before this court being WPA 2703 of 2023 and this Court by an order dated 27.09.2024 has disposed of the writ petition directing the Sub-Divisional Officer, Serampore, Hooghly to consider the case of the petitioner within a period of three months from the date of service of a copy of the order. 3.

In terms of the order passed by this court dated 27.09.2024, the Sub-Divisional Officer, Serampore, Hooghly had issued notices of hearing on 10.01.2025 and 28.01.2025 respectively and accordingly, the petitioner has appeared before the concerned authority but till date the concerned authority has not passed any order.

Considering the above, this Court finds that no purpose will be served in keeping the writ petition pending.

Accordingly, this Court directs the Sub-Divisional Officer, Serampore, Hooghly to comply with the order passed by this court dated 27.09.2024 and to complete the proceeding and to pass a reasoned and speaking order after giving an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner within a period of six weeks from the date of communication of this order.

W.P.A. 13320 of 2025 is accordingly, disposed of. 7.

Let urgent Photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the petitioner upon compliance with all necessary formalities.
