1. This is an application for anticipatory bail filed in connection with Rishra Police Station Case No. 100 of 2025 dated 07.05.2025 under Sections 85/118(2)/109/76/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

Learned counsel for the petitioners is seeking anticipatory bail on the ground that the alleged incident is stated to have taken place on 14th February, 2025 whereas the present complaint was lodged on 7th May, 2025. He submits that such a delay itself makes the case of the prosecution suspicious.

3. Learned counsel for the petitioners further submits that the petitioners are ready and willing to cooperate with the investigation.

4. Learned counsel for the State opposes of the prayer for anticipatory bail and submits that investigation is in

progress. If the petitioners are released on bail, they may hamper the investigation. He also submits that as per injury report, the victim/complainant had suffered grievous injury.

5. This Court has considered alleged incident that had occurred on 14th February, 2025 and the FIR was lodged on 7th May, 2025. The complainant has lodged the demand of dowry. However, no specific instance regarding demand of dowry has been made.

6. Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court is of the opinion that the petitioners may be granted anticipatory bail.

Accordingly, this Court directs, in the event of arrest, the petitioners shall be released on bail upon furnishing a bond of Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees ten thousand) each, with two sureties of like amount each, one of whom must be local, to the satisfaction of the learned Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Serampore, Hooghly subject to the conditions that the petitioners shall meet the Investigating Officer twice in a week at 4:00 P.M. at the concerned police station till completion of the investigation until further orders. He shall furnish his residential address and mobile number to the Investigating Officer and shall not change/alter the same without prior intimation. He shall not intimidate witnesses or tamper with evidence in any manner whatsoever. He shall also cooperate with the investigation.
