The State of West Bengal Mr. Angshuman Chakraborty Mr. Shashanka Sekhar Saha ...for the petitioner Mr. Anwar Hossain Ms. Manisha Sharma ...for the State This is an application for expeditious disposal of N.104/2021 arising out of Baguiati Police Station Case No.451/2021 under Section 21(C) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (hereafter referred to as the said Act) pending before the learned Special Judge, NDPS Act and learned Additional Sessions Judge, 6th Court at Barasat. This Court is of the view that the instant criminal revision can be disposed of here and now with the assistance of the learned advocate for the State. Accordingly, Mr. Anwar Hossain along with Ms. Manisha Sharma, learned P.P.-in-charge are requested to assist this Court for the instant matter.

Their appointment be regularized by the learned Legal Remembrancer, Government of West Bengal. On perusal of the instant petition it is ascertained that the petitioner was arrested on 18th August, 2021. Police submitted charge sheet and supplementary charge sheet respectively on 15th October, 2021 and 17 March, 2022. Trial Court framed charge on 21st April, 2022 and date is fixed for recording evidence on 15th July, 2022.

On perusal of the dates fixed by the trial Court, I do not find any reason to pass an order directing the learned trial Judge to dispose of the case expeditiously. The learned trial Judge has already taken expeditious step for disposal of the case. However, the learned trial Judge is requested to ensure examination of at least two witnesses on 15th July, 2022 and thereafter fix a schedule for examination of remaining witnesses.

With the above direction, the instant revision is disposed of.
