Affidavit-of-service filed in Court today is taken on record.

The petitioners refer to the order dated 22nd April, 2024 passed by the Hon'ble Division Bench of this Court in MAT 673 of 2024 (Gouri Chakraborty & Ors. -vs- The State of West Bengal & Ors.) with IA No. CAN 1 of 2024 directing the Municipality to act in terms of the order passed by the Court within a period of four weeks from the date of the order.

Four weeks period has just expired.

The petitioners submit that the Municipality is yet to act in terms of the order passed by the Court. Learned advocate appearing on behalf of the Municipality submits, upon instructions, that in view of the ensuing parliamentary elections 2024, the order could not be passed within the time limit specified by the Court.

It has been submitted that immediately after the result of the elections are declared, the order will be made to known to the parties.

In view of such submission, the Municipality is directed to communicate the order positively by 20th June, 2024.

The writ petition stands disposed of.

Urgent certified photocopy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties expeditiously on compliance of usual legal formalities.
