Supplementary affidavit filed on behalf of the petitioner is taken on record.
The petitioner is in custody for 162 days and prays for bail. Learned counsel for the petitioner refers to the documents appended to the supplementary affidavit and submits that the money trail allegedly connecting the petitioner to the offence is because of the fact that the petitioner had business transaction with accused Abhijit Halder even prior to the date of the alleged offence for which there was monetary transaction between them. Learned counsel for the State opposes the prayer. It appears that there was monetary transactions between the petitioner and the other co-accused which do not prima facie indicate any business transaction between them. The allegation is extremely serious in nature. The petitioner appears to be a part of the racket which has allegedly manufactured several fake
passports utilizing the identity and documents of persons who had not applied for such passport at all. Investigation is in progress. Considering the material on record prima facie connecting the petitioner to the alleged crime, the prayer for bail is rejected at this stage.
The application for bail is disposed of.
