The case was registered under Sections 302/34 of the Indian Penal Code read with Sections 25/27 of the Arms Act in the year 2017. For about seven years the petitioner absconded. His application for anticipatory bail was rejected in 2020 by this Court. Even thereafter he was absconding. In January 2024, the petitioner surrendered. He prays for bail. We are told by learned advocate for the State that sixteen out of eighteen witnesses have been examined. The trial is at an advanced stage.

In view of the aforesaid and in view of the fact that the petitioner was absconding for a long time, we are not inclined to allow this application for bail.

The application for bail is, accordingly, rejected. CRM (DB) 1695 of 2024 is dismissed.
