The petitioner is a minor male child aged about five years represented by his mother. The name of the petitioner has been incorrectly recorded in his Birth Certificate issued by the District Hospital, Hooghly. The proper name of the petitioner is 'Rishank'. The same has been incorrected recorded as 'Risanka'.

The petitioner has prepared an affidavit by disclosing that the name of the minor is Rishank. Prayer has been made to direct the authority to correct the name of the petitioner in the birth certificate. 3.

According to the provision of law, the parents of the petitioner may apply before the Registrar, Births and Deaths in terms of the communication made by the Deputy Registrar General, Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs dated 30th June, 2025. 4.

In the event such an application is made, the concerned authority shall take steps for correction of the name of the minor in the Birth Certificate at the earliest without any unnecessary delay.

The parents of the minor child will be obliged to furnish necessary documents to the Registrar for effecting correction.

The instruction by the Superintendent, District Hospital, Hooghly signed on 30th June, 2025 is taken on record. The communication dated 30th June, 2025 by the Deputy Registrar General, Office of the Registrar General, India to all Chief Registrars of Births and Deaths is also retained with the records. 7.

The writ petition stands disposed of.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance of all requisite formalities.
