Allegedly, 2 kgs. 269 grams of Methamphetamine tablets were recovered from the possession of the petitioner. The petitioner says that he is in custody for two years three months. There is no likelihood of the trial concluding at an early date. Learned advocate for the State says that the trial has progressed substantially. A reasonable period of time may be indicated within which the trial shall be concluded. He says that a schedule for examination of witness has been fixed from June 26, 2024 to June 29, 2024.

Having considered the material on record which is prima facie against the petitioner and in view of the restriction under Section 37 of the NDPS Act, we are not inclined to enlarge the petitioner on bail at this stage.

The application for bail is, accordingly, rejected. CRM (NDPS) 882 of 2024 is dismissed.
