The petitioner says that he is not the principal accused. The principal accused persons have been granted bail. He had no role to play in the alleged incident of kidnapping for ransom. Learned Advocate for the State produces the case diary. We have gone through the same including the statement of the victim recorded under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973. It appears from such statement that the petitioner before us is the principal accused. The other coaccused persons including the petitioner's father were arrested from the place of occurrence and the victim was rescued by the Police. The other co-accused persons were granted statutory bail.

On an overall assessment of the material on record and the possible extent of complicity of the petitioner in the alleged

crime, we are not inclined to extend the privilege of anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

Accordingly, the application for anticipatory bail being CRM (A) 2408 of 2023 is dismissed.
