Mr. Debaditya Das ....for the petitioner Mr. Arjun Ray Mukherjee Ms. Amrita Panja Moulick ...for the State The grievance of the petitioner is directed against the refusal of the respondent authorities to permit the petitioner to resume his services as a village police volunteer under Lalgola Police Station. It is submitted that the petitioner had been appointed as a police volunteer under Lalgola Police Station on 24th May 2012 and was ranked as WBVP125. Thereafter, the petitioner had been involved in a domestic violence case where he was beaten by his wife and her relatives and was admitted to the Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital on 16th October, 2018. The petitioner has since been under continuous medical treatment and was only discharged on 29th November, 2018. Upon being

discharged the petitioner sought to join the service as a police volunteer but was not permitted to do so. Despite having made repeated representations, the petitioner has not been permitted to resume his service.

On behalf of the State authorities it is submitted that in view of the Howrah Police Gazette Notification dated October 1, 2011 pertaining to Civic Police Volunteers, the services provided by the petitioner is liable to be terminated. In any event, it is submitted that a representation be made to the Superintendent of Police, Murshidabad, who be directed to consider the same.

In such circumstances, the Superintendent of Police is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner and pass a reasoned order within a period of two weeks from the date of communication of this order.

With the aforesaid directions, WPA 14029 of 2023 stands disposed of.
