The petitioner renews his prayer for bail which was rejected on a number of occasions on merits. He says that he is in custody for 800 days. 3 out of 24 witnesses have been examined including the complainant. On the ground of delay in trial, the petitioner seeks bail.

Learned advocate for the State draws our attention to the material in the Case Diary including the post mortem report. The allegation is serious. Allegedly, the petitioner has murdered his wife by throttling. The material on record prima facie supports such a charge.

Accordingly, although the petitioner is in custody for quite some time, we are of the view that his prayer for bail should not be entertained, at this stage.

However, we direct the learned trial Court to expedite the trial to the fullest extent and conclude the same as soon as possible.

The application for bail being CRM (DB) 1750 of 2024 is, thus, dismissed.
