The primary grievance of the petitioner is that the electricity meters of the private respondent no. 14 and others are required to be shifted to an alternative location due to safety hazards apprehended by the petitioner.

Learned counsel for the Distribution Licensee submits that respondent no. 14 has already applied for such shifting and the options in that regard are being explored by the Distribution Licensee at present. Such shifting can be done only subject to feasibility in that regard and due compliance of all formalities.

Hence, WPA No. 14189 of 2022 is disposed of by directing the Distribution Licensee to take urgent steps with regard to shifting the meter in terms of the application made by the respondent no. 14, to which the petitioner has also given consent, subject to compliance of all formalities, as expeditiously as possible, preferably within two weeks from the compliance of all formalities by the respective parties. In the event any obstruction is faced by the Distribution Licensee in doing so, it will be open to the personnel of the Distribution Licensee to approach the concerned local Police Station for adequate police assistance and if so approached, such assistance shall be given at the cost of the respondent no.

and/or the petitioner immediately.

There will be no order as to costs.

Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
