N-243 of 2019 under Section 21(c)/29 of the N.D.P.S. Act, 1985, pending before the learned Additional Sessions Judge, 6th Court at Barasat, North 24-Parganas.

The learned advocate for the petitioner refers to an order dated January 29, 2021, passed in C.R.M. No. 11233 of 2020, whereby a direction was given upon the learned Judge in the trial Court to expedite the progress of the trial and complete the same within a reasonable time.

The petitioner has again come up with this application seeking an expeditious disposal of the trial. It has been submitted by the learned advocate for the petitioner that after passing of the order dated January 29, 2021,

there has been no progress in the trial and the evidence stage is yet to be reached.

In this pandemic situation, it is not expected that the learned Judge in the Court below shall proceed with the trial at a normal pace.

However, keeping in mind the innocuous nature of the prayer, this application is disposed of with a direction upon the learned Additional Sessions Judge, 6th Court, Barasat, North 24 Parganas, to make an endeavour to expedite the trial and conclude the same as expeditiously as possible, without granting any unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties. The revisional application being C.R.R. 1860 of 2021 is, thus, disposed of.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the petitioner upon compliance with all necessary formalities.
