Mr. Rupayan Deb, appearing for the petitioner submits that the life of the petitioner is at threat and he and his family members desperately needs police protection.

He submits that there is a dispute with the local panchayat authority, as a result local residents are being tempted by the village committee and puja committee to cause harm to the petitioner and his family members.

Hence, an urgent police protection is required. The prayers from the writ petition show that the petitioner principally prays for registration of the FIR on the basis of his complaint dated June 1, 2024.

Ms. Sonal Sinha, learned counsel appears for the State respondents. She submits a police report dated June 6, 2024 issued under the seal and signature of the Officer-in-Charge, Chandrakona (Town) Police Station. The same is taken on record.

The report reflects that the police has already initiated steps under Section 107 of the Code of Criminal Procedure being Chandrakona Town P.S. NCR No. 672 dated June 2, 2024. The police authority has posted picket in front of the residence of the petitioner. However, this submission of posting of police picket has been denied by the petitioner.

After considering the submissions made on behalf of the parties and upon considering the materials on record, it appears to this Court that the police authority has been acting diligently and has taken steps in accordance with law.

However, if the petitioner and his family members seek further police protection by posting police picket at his residence, the petitioner and his family members shall be at liberty to apply before the local Police Station and upon payment of usual charges, such police picket shall be provided by the police authority.

This order shall not have any effect or bearing on any other proceeding, if initiated or to be initiated by the petitioner.

Since affidavits are not called for, the allegations made in the writ petition are deemed not to have been admitted by the respondents.

With the above direction and observation, this writ, WPA 15214 of 2014, stands disposed of, without any order as to costs.
