Mr. Abhijit Sarkar, learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that the local police authority has not granted proper protection to the petitioner required in a family dispute. Mr. Swapan Banerjee, learned advocate appearing for the State submits a police report dated June 6, 2024 issued under the seal and signature of the Officer-in-Charge, Metiaburz Police Station, the same is taken on record.

The report shows that statements of witnesses have been recorded under Section 161 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Medical report has been obtained. The investigation is in progress. Police has initiated Metiabruz P.S. Case No. 57 of 2024 dated April 23, 2024 under Section 324 of the Indian Penal Code and further charges under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code has also been inserted.

After considering the submissions made on behalf of the parties and upon perusal of the materials on record, it appears to this Court that police has taken steps diligently and has been proceeding in accordance with law.

In view of the above, the jurisdictional police authority shall take steps expeditiously strictly in accordance with law.

Since affidavits are not called for, the allegations made in this writ petition are deemed not to have been admitted by the respondents. With the above observations and directions, this writ petition being WPA 15226 of 2024 stands disposed of, without any order as to costs.
