The petitioner renews his prayer for bail. He says that he is in custody for about three years and seven months. We find that this is the fourth application for bail made by the petitioner before this Court. Earlier his prayer was rejected by orders dated December 7, 2021, February 23, 2023 and December 14, 2023.

We find no change of circumstance excepting that it is true that the petitioner has been in custody for a substantial period of time.

The State says that seven out of eighteen witnesses have been examined. We find that there is sufficient direct incriminating material against the petitioner. Hence, we are not inclined to allow the petitioner's prayer.

CRM (NDPS) 918 of 2024 is dismissed.

However, considering the lengthy detention of the petitioner, we direct the learned Trial Court to expedite the trial and conclude the same at the earliest and definitely within a period of six months from the date of communication of this order. We clarify that in the event, the trial is not concluded within the period of six months, the petitioner will be entitled to renew his prayer for bail.

Let this order be communicated by the parties to the learned Trial Court.
