The allegation is of cheating pursuant to a conspiracy between the accused persons. Apparently, particulars of 13 accounts relating to "Laxmi Bhandar Scheme" have been manipulated and the names of beneficiaries thereunder have been changed. The petitioner is said to be the principal accused. The petitioner says that he is in custody for 54 days. All relevant documents have been seized. There can be no reason to detain him any further.

Learned advocate for the State while opposing the prayer for bail, says that investigating is in progress. It is not correct to say that the custody of the petitioner is not required any further. He is the main perpetrator of the fraud. His prayer should be rejected, at this stage.

We have seen the material on record. Prima facie, there is incriminating evidence against the petitioner. Investigation is not yet complete. Hence, given the nature and gravity of the alleged crime, we are not inclined to allow this application, at this stage.

CRM (DB) 1782 of 2024 is dismissed.
