1. The prosecution case is that 132.7 kgs. of Ganja was recovered from the possession of 11 accused persons while they were boarding in a bus, which was running in Digha-Asansol route. The petitioner is one of the 11 accused persons and is in custody since 17th November 2024.

2. Learned Advocate appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits that the charge-sheet has been submitted on 30th March 2025 but the trial has not yet been started and the prosecution proposes to examine 15 witnesses and, as such, nobody knows when the trial would be concluded and he may be released on bail on any terms and conditions.

3. Learned Advocate appearing on behalf of the State opposed the application for bail by contending that the commercial quantity of narcotic substance was recovered from the joint possession of the present petitioner.

4. Having heard the learned Advocate appearing on behalf of the petitioner and the State and that the material placed before me discloses that the rigour of Section 37 of the Narcotic Drugs and

Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, clearly attracts in respect of the present petitioner, his prayer for bail is considered and rejected.

5. Accordingly, CRM (NDPS) 706 of 2025 is disposed of.

6. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, duly applied for, be given to the parties upon compliance of all requisite formalities. (Dr. Ajoy Kumar Mukherjee, J.)
