Kumar Mr. Saket Sharma ... for the petitioner Mr. Neguive Ahmed, learned APP Ms. Trina Mitra ... for the State Learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is in custody for more than five years. It is further submitted that there is slow progress in the trial of the case.

Learned Counsel appearing for the State opposes the prayer for bail.

We have considered the materials on record. There are ample materials including suicide note implicating the petitioner in abetting suicide of the victim girl and her relations. In view of gravity of the offence and as trial is in progress, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.

The application for bail is, thus, rejected. In view of the protracted detention suffered by the petitioners, we direct the trial court to expedite the trial and

conclude the same within one year from the next date fixed for recording evidence without granting any unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties.
