Sujauddin ....for the petitioner Ms. Mitali Bhattacharya ....for the WBSEDCL Although learned counsel for the petitioner is not ready with the affidavit-of-service due to certain reasons beyond the control of the petitioner, since both sides are represented through counsel, the matter is taken up for hearing.

The innocuous prayer of the petitioner is that the petitioner's application for transfer of an electricity meter in the petitioner's name be considered. Learned counsel appearing for the WBSEDCL submits that the petitioner has not yet applied formally as per the legal provisions either for transfer of name or for electricity connection in her own name. That apart, it is submitted that certain other issues have been raised in respect of bills in the writ petition.

However, upon hearing learned counsel for the parties, it is evident that the petitioner restricts herself to the prayer for consideration of her application for transfer of the name of consumer in respect of the concerned meter in her own name. However, since the petitioner has not yet applied in proper form, WPA No. 14635 of 2022 is disposed of by granting liberty to the petitioner to apply in proper format either for transfer of name in respect of the electricity meter-in-question or, alternatively, for a new electricity connection at the premises.

If such application/applications are made by the petitioner, the same will be considered by the WBSEDCL expeditiously in accordance with law. It is made clear that the merits of the contentions levelled in the present writ petition have not been gone into by this court.

There will be no order as to costs.

Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
