The petitioner renews his prayer for bail which was rejected by a Co-ordinate Bench by an order dated December 20, 2023 passed in CRM (DB) 4653 of 2023.

The petitioner says that he is innocent. He merely operates a lodge. A co-accused person, namely, Tarak has been enlarged on bail. He stands on the same footing as Tarak. He is in custody for 8 months 2 days. There is no possibility of an early trial. He prays for bail.

While opposing the prayer for bail, learned State counsel draws our attention to the relevant material in the case diary. We find a certificate from the Murshidabad Municipality to the effect that the Trade Licence in respect of the so-called "lodge" is in the name of this petitioner. The allegation is Signed By :

serious. It is of running of brothel from the said lodge. Charges under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956 are also there. In view of the seriousness of the charge and prima facie incriminating evidence, we are not inclined to allow this application for bail.

CRM (DB) 1836 of 2024 is dismissed.
