The petitioner renews his prayer for bail which was rejected earlier on more than one occasion, lastly on December 21, 2023. He says that the main witness of the prosecution has been examined. Hence, it is not necessary to detain him in custody any further.

Learned advocate for the State, while opposing the prayer for bail, says that the victim girl in her deposition has clearly incriminated the petitioner. There are in all 17 witnesses. The State shall spare no effort to bring the trial to an early conclusion.

The allegation is of abduction and gang rape. It is a very serious issue. There is sufficient prima facie incriminating evidence against the petitioner. Hence, we are not inclined to allow the petitioner's prayer.

CRM (DB) 1826 of 2024 is dismissed.

We only request the learned Trial Court to expedite the trial to the extent possible so that the same can be concluded at an early date.
