The petitioner prays for a direction upon the State Election Commission to exempt the petitioner from taking up the Panchayat Election Duty on account of his medical condition.

The petitioner claims to be suffering from radius bone cancer in his right hand with 60% physical handicap. Representation seeking exemption was filed before the Commission on March 5, 2023.

Without going into the merits of the claim put forth by the petitioner, the instant writ petition is disposed of by directing the State Election Commission to take a decision apropos the representation filed by the petitioner seeking exemption from election duty in accordance with law after perusal of the medical documents forwarded by the petitioner.

A decision shall be taken in the matter at the earliest.

Learned advocate for the petitioner is directed to forward a copy of the application seeking exemption along with all other medical documents in support of his prayer to the Commission at the time of communicating the order of the Court for taking a decision in the matter. The writ petition stands disposed of.
