Mr. Pankaj Halder, Mr. Sanatan Panja ...for the Petitioner It is the grievance of the petitioner that although he had supplied food to the Block Development Office, Mathurapur-II Block, during the COVID-19 period, an amount of ₹12,81,000/- remains unpaid by the said office towards the food supplied by him.

Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that a representation was made before the Block Development Officer, Mathurapur-II Block, South 24Parganas, seeking release of the unpaid dues, but no steps have been taken in this regard.

Learned advocate for the petitioner has also relied upon a judgment dated March 13, 2025, passed by a Coordinate Bench of this Court in WPA 13084 of 2023, wherein in similar circumstances, the concerned District Magistrate was directed to release the admitted dues of a contractor.

Respondents are not represented. Let the affidavit of service filed by the petitioner be kept with the records. In view of the aforesaid facts, there is no justification to

keep this writ petition pending. Accordingly, the Block Development Officer, Mathurapur-II Block, South 24Parganas, is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner appearing at page 95 of the writ petition and take appropriate steps in accordance with law so that the petitioner receives his legitimate outstanding dues, if found payable.

Let such exercise be completed within one month from the date of communication of this order.

Accordingly, WPA 14388 of 2025 stands disposed of. Urgent certified website copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
