The petitioner prays for consideration of the representation filed on June 17, by the Commission.

The petitioner intends to participate in the Panchayat General Elections, 2023. He submitted his nomination on June 12, 2023 and after the scrutiny was over on June 17, 2023 the petitioner came to learn that his candidature has been rejected. The petitioner immediately filed objection before the Panchayat Returning Officer but alleges that the same is yet to be considered. The petitioner is unaware as to why his candidature has been rejected.

Learned advocate representing the State Election Commission is yet to receive instruction in the matter.

As the date of election is fast approaching, no useful purpose will be served by keeping the writ petition pending.

The Court thinks it fit to direct the Commission to take a decision apropos the objection filed by the petitioner on June 17, 2023.

A decision shall be taken in the matter at the earliest.

Learned advocate for the petitioner is directed to forward a copy of the DCRB, the receipt showing submission of the nomination papers and the objection filed before the Panchayat Election Officer on June 17, 2023 to the concerned authority at the time of communicating the order of the Court.

The writ petition stands disposed of.

Urgent certified photocopy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties expeditiously on compliance of usual legal formalities.
