1. On a perusal of the report forwarded by the Additional Manager (Legal), SRO & SWRO dated 28th June, 2024, it appears that on receipt of the application for obtaining new electric connection, an inspection was sought to be conducted by CESC Limited and it was found that the petitioner was enjoying electric connection from the meter standing in the name of one Pradip Banerjee. CESC personnel were denied access to the meter room.

Accordingly, inspection could not be made.

2. The petitioner submits that as he is without electric connection, he is compelled to use the connection of Pradip Banerjee. The petitioner

intends to obtain electric connection in his own name as he claims to be the tenant of the subject premises where connection has been sought for.

3. Upon hearing the parties, the instant writ petition is disposed of by directing CESC personnel to conduct spot inspection to ascertain feasibility of installation of meter and providing new electric connection in the name of the petitioner. If providing supply is feasible, then necessary steps shall be taken to provide electric connection to the petitioner.

4. CESC personnel may conduct inspection with the assistance of the police, if required, upon payment of charges by the petitioner.

5. Steps shall be taken in the matter at the earliest but positively within a period of eight weeks from the date of communication of this order.

6. The fate of the application of the petitioner shall be made known to him.

7. Written instruction of the Addl. Manager (Legal), SRO & SWRO dated 28th June, 2024 be kept with the record.

8. Report forwarded by the Officer-in-Charge, Behala P.S. signed on 27th June, 2o24 be retained with the records.

9. The writ petition stands disposed of.

10. Urgent certified photocopy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties expeditiously on compliance of usual legal formalities.
