As none appears on behalf of the State, Mr. M. Shehabuddin, learned advocate, who ordinarily appears for the State, is directed to represent the State. His appointment may be regularised by the concerned authorities.

Petitioner approached this Court being aggrieved by the inaction of the police authorities pursuant to the information furnished on 22.05.2024 to the Inspector-in-Charge, Baruipur Police Station. The main grievance of the petitioner is that the accused persons were not arrested by the police authorities in spite of repeated information being furnished to the police station. Having considered that information was furnished on 22.05.2024 and more than 14 months have passed, in case no police station case has been registered, petitioner would be at liberty to approach the jurisdictional Magistrate under the relevant provisions of law. Learned Magistrate would assess and ascertain regarding the accusations and thereafter pass necessary directions as he deems fit and proper.

With the aforesaid observations, the writ petition being WPA 15640 of 2024 is disposed of. Pending connected application, if any, is consequently disposed of.

There will be no order as to costs.
