The petitioner is aggrieved by the inaction on the part of the State Transport Authorities in issuing a revised timetable in respect of the petitioner's vehicle plying on the route Bakkhali to Howrah Railway Station. It is submitted that the petitioner has made an application for revision of timetable on June 10, 2025 and has also put in the requisite fees therefor on June 17, 2025. It is further submitted that despite such application having been made and appropriate fees having been paid therefor, no step has been taken by the respondent State Transport Authority to issue revised timetable in favour of the petitioner. The petitioner further submits that on June 26, 2025, the petitioner had made a representation before the Principal Secretary, Transport Department, West Bengal, requesting the said
authority to take steps and to ensure issuance of revised timetable, but the said representation has also failed to bear fruits.
Mr. Titas Niyogi, learned advocate appears and submits that he represents the owners of the vehicles whose numbers have been mentioned in paragraph 16 of the writ petition i.e. WB19E2440 and WB19H4739 and that allegations have been levelled against those vehicles without arraying the owners thereof as parties to the writ petition.
Having heard the learned advocates appearing for the respective parties and having considered the material on record, this Court is of the view that justice would be sub-served if the respondent no.3 is directed to consider the petitioner's application dated June 10, 2025 (Annexure-P/2 at page 23 of the writ petition) and take a decision thereon strictly in accordance with law upon giving an opportunity of hearing to all concerned, including the petitioner within a period of three weeks from the date of communication of this order. The respondent no.3 shall pass a reasoned order within the aforesaid period and shall communicate the same to the petitioner and the others concerned within a week from the date of such order.
With the aforesaid observations, WPA 14464 of 2025 stands disposed of.
There shall, however, be no order as to costs.
