Perused the report dated April 23, 2025 filed by the Environmental Engineer, Hooghly Regional Office, West Bengal Pollution Control Board wherefrom it appears that the unit category of the alleged unit is green which does not require consent to establish/consent to operate by the State Board as it is handling less than 25,000 birds.

The officer has, however, opined that the operation in the old shed which is close to the residential locality may not be permitted to be run and the operation of the new shed may be permitted subject to compliance of the environmental guidelines published by the Central Pollution Control Board in January 2022. 3.

The authority at the time of inspection noticed that there was no composting facility and no litter/manure storage facility. Further, there were no burial pits for disposal of dead birds and no drainage facility as required to be observed in the

poultry unit.

In the light of the inspection report, the Environmental Officer is directed to take all remedial measures to ensure that the supply unit runs strictly in accordance with the pollution norms failing which step shall be taken to stop the polluting unit.

The writ petition is disposed of.
