Mukherjee, Mr. Mirza Firoj Ahmed Begg, ... for the State The petitioner seeks expeditious disposal of NDPS Case No. 156 of 2019 under Sections 21(c )/29 of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, pending before the learned Judge, Special Court under the NDPS Act Cum ADJ, 5th Court, Berhampore, Murshidabad.

It has been submitted by the learned advocate for the petitioner that the petitioner is in custody for about two years. It has, further, been submitted that the trial is not proceeding, in spite of fixing the date for recording of evidence on several occasions.

In this pandemic situation, the delay in proceeding with the trial cannot be attributed to the learned Judge in the Court below.

Keeping in mind the innocuous nature of the prayer, the revisional application is disposed of with a direction upon the the learned Judge, Special Court under the NDPS Act Cum ADJ, 5th Court, Berhampore, Murshidabad, to make an endeavour to expedite the trial and conclude the same as expeditiously as possible, without granting any unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties.

The revisional application being C.R.R. 1998 of 2021 is, thus, disposed of.
