Mukherjee, Mr. Mirza Firoj Ahmed Begg, ... for the State The petitioners seek expeditious disposal of NDPS Case No. 16 of 2020 under Sections 22(c)/29 of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, pending before the learned Judge, Special Court under the NDPS Act, Berhampore, Murshidabad.

It has been submitted by the learned advocate for the petitioner that the petitioner is in custody for about one year. It has, further, been submitted that the trial is not proceeding, in spite of fixing the date for recording of evidence on several occasions.

In this pandemic situation, the delay in proceeding with the trial cannot be attributed to the learned Judge in the Court below.

Keeping in mind the innocuous nature of the prayer, the revisional application is disposed of with a direction upon the the learned Judge, Special Court under the NDPS Act, Berhampore, Murshidabad, to make an endeavour to expedite the trial and conclude the same as expeditiously as possible, without granting any unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties. The revisional application being C.R.R. 2001 of 2021 is, thus, disposed of.
