Mr. Ratan Das ...petitioner in person Ms. Sweta Mukherjee Mr. Prantik Garai ..for the State Despite service, none appears on behalf of Rajib Das, Sub Inspector of the Police, attached to the Parnashree Police Station. Let the affidavit of service be taken on record.

This writ petition is disposed of with a direction upon the Officer-in-Charge, Paranashree Police Station to enquire into the specific allegation against one Rajib Das, Sub Inspector of Police attached to the said police station, who had allegedly assaulted the petitioner.

Reliance has been placed on medical reports to substantiate that some injury has been inflicted on the petitioner by the said Rajib Das. As the allegation is against a police officer, this Court takes such allegation seriously and thinks it fit to direct a superior officer of Parnashree Police Station, to enquire into such allegation.

This order shall not be construed as an acceptance of the allegation against Sri Rajib Das. The enquiry must be impartial and must reveal the

truth. On the basis of the result of such enquiry, remedial steps shall be taken by the police authorities.

The writ petition is disposed of.

There will be, however, no order as to costs. All parties are to act on the basis of the server copy of this order.
